Fire Truck Visit

We were so lucky to have Fire Fighter Jason from the Cedarburg Fire Department join us today!  He talked all about fire safety in our homes and then showed us step by step how he puts on his gear to keep him safe in a fire.  The visit ended with a special look at his fire truck and some of the tools inside.  Friends even got a chance to sit in the fire truck too!  It was such an exciting day in 4K!

Celebrating Friendships

After a month of school, we are learning more and more about each other.  To celebrate our new friendships, we had a 4K Friendship Day!  We made a special trail mix, made projects and read stories all about friends.  Click below to see some fun memories we made from that day. :)

4K Crayon Grip

This week we learned how to hold a crayon using a special crayon grip.  We use small "flip" crayons to practice holding a crayon using the tripod approach and a song called "Pick up a Crayon" to help us remember the steps.  This can be tricky at first and takes lots of practice and patience.  Be sure to ask your child all about it and remind them to use this grip at home too. :)

We practiced using our special new grip in our Handwriting Workbooks!

Apples, Apples, Apples

We had a blast reading apples stories, singing apple songs, making apple projects and even eating and voting on our favorite apple foods.

Meet Man Man!

Now that we learned all about the lines and curves to help friends make uppercase letters, this week we used those lines and curves to make Mat Man!  Mat Man is a fun and engaging way to help 4K learners learn how to make a person that includes all body parts, including an often forgotten one... the body!

Handwriting Pieces

4K has began their Handwriting adventures!
We learned that all uppercase letters are formed using 4 different lines.
We have a Big Line, Little Line, Big Curve, and Small Curve.
See the picture above of the wood pieces we use.  We learned all about them through songs and movement while holding the different lines.
