Mystery Reader

We were thrilled to have another Mystery Reader today!  Hailey's cousin, Clare, joined our classroom and read us two terrific stories, If You Give a Moose a Muffin and If You Take a Mouse to School.  They were both super engaging and fun to listen to.  And as an added treat, Clare even brought us muffins to connect to the moose story! We loved it!

Gingerbread Centers

This week is an exciting one in 4K as we began many new centers with a focus on Gingerbread!  Thanks to so many families who donated gingerbread playdoughh, we have opened a Gingerbread Bakery!  Now friends can roll out, cutout and "bake" cookies.  We also opened a Hot Chocolate Cafe in our Book Nook, a gingerbread man search around the classroom to find letters and the Sensory Table is another place to make "cookies" with playdough and trinkets to decorate them. The class is abuzz with excitement this week!

Mystery Reader

We began the week with a Mystery Reader!  Mabel's Mom joined our class first thing on Monday to read us two sweet stories... Naughty Mabel and Thelma the Unicorn.  They were terrific stories to begin our week!

Winter Workshop

4K's Winter Workshop day was a huge success!  We painted, glued, glittered, colored and created holiday crafts that will turn into gifts and keepsakes.

Thank you to all of our helpers who joined us!  We could not have done it without you!

Wacky Wednesday....

 Tie Dye Day!

Mystery Reader

We were so excited to have another Mystery Reader join us this week!  Charlotte's Mimi read us two great stories, one that included letters to special characters from other stories and another that many of us had a connection with.  She read We're Going on a Bear Hunt and The Jolly Postman.  We sure do love stories and hearing family members read to us. :)

Star Student Charlotte

Our latest Star Student in class was Charlotte!  Charlotte is incredibly sweet, thoughtful and caring of all friends in our classroom.  She loves playing with everyone and is always polite. :)  We loved learning so much more about Charlotte through her poster, pictures and show-n-tell items!

Mystery Reader

We started our week off in a perfect way... with a Mystery Reader!  Jordan's Mom joined us and read us two holiday-themed stories!  We made so many connections to both stories.  She read us Snowmen at Night and Little Blue Truck's Christmas. It was a wonderful way to begin our week.

Crossing the Midline

As we continue on our handwriting journey, in order to write letters appropriately here in 4K, it is essential that children are able to cross their midline to write letters such as T and I.  You can think of midline as an invisible line that is "drawn" right down the center of our bodies.  Crossing the midline means you can cross both arms the opposite way across that invisible line. This is a skill that children develop as they grow early on.  It is not only a physical motion but helps to connect our right brain and left brain.

Because crossing midline is so important in children's development, we will spend a lot of time here in 4K strengthening our muscles to cross midline.  Tasks such as sweeping, clapping across our bodies with a friend, or tracing hands are a few examples we'll use. Click HERE if you would like to see more ways you can strengthen crossing midline at home too!

Wacky Wednesday...

 Camouflage Day!

Mystery Reader

We were so excited to have a Mystery Reader begin our afternoon today!  Jordan's sister Ellis joined our classroom and read a book by a favorite author here in 4K, Mo Willems.  It was called I'm a Frog and it definitely made us laugh.  It was even more special that Ellis was in my class back when she was in 4K too. :)  It certainly made our afternoon happier.
